We ate on Sunday & had a fantastic meal. I was pleased to hear that this is a pub that doesn't force a reduced "Sunday menu" on it's diners because I absolutely hate looking at a menu online only to discover most of it isn't available on a Sunday! The steak & chips I had was really nice & the staff were happy to take off the mushrooms & tomatoes for me so they wouldn't end up going to waste, it was a really good size & a really good quality meat cut. My husband had the lasagne with garlic bread, which I tried a mouthful of & I'll definitely be ordering this when we next visit. My parents ordered the gammon & the steak & ale pie. The desserts were fantastic as well, i'd definitely recommend the cookie dough! Everyone really enjoyed their food & said how lovely it was. The staff were friendly & polite, so we'll definitely return!

Update:

They have now implemented a vastly reduced Sunday menu in favour of introducing a Sunday lunch, which unfortunately means I will no longer be going here on Sundays.

I went today 26/12/24 for a meal with my mum and auntie. The table was nicely set with crackers. We ordered two beef and one turkey dinner. The plates were piled high with plenty of meat, vegetables and a yorkshire pudding. There was a very tasty pig in blanket too with roast potatoes. We then each had apple crumble which came in a little bowl with either custard or cream in a small jug. The staff were really friendly and checked with us that everything was OK. I would definitely recommend going to this lovely little place.

Mums funeral meal. 13 adults 2 children. When we arrived no staff had to call for someone, there was no one else in the restaurant. They said can we wait 30 minutes before we sit in the snug which I had booked. It was 3.30pm. Some of us had drinks,q husband asked for coffee, and didn't have any!! Eventually we sat down, as you can imagine we were emotional, we didn't mind waiting for for food as staff has explained when I booked it could be a while because we didn't ore order. The soup was cold, the burgers were not worth the money.Basic food. 2 staff on I think! Hardly anyone in the place, but my food came when everyone else had finished! When I went to get bill, I'm sure they were vaping near the fire area. I'm not sure about the total bill but was more than £350. I will be emailing them. What a sad end to a sad day.

The food we ordered was lovely. The staff were friendly. However the pub itself was a bit chilly, the staff seemed a bit chilly too. The fact it was a bit nippy and very quiet in there probably affected the atmosphere. You can't have a warm atmosphere in a cold pub. There is a real fire in the pub (not lit) 😲. Recommended with heating on.

New management but still the same staple menu which is a good thing. Well made winter warming grub large portion usually have to roll out when we've finished eating. Lovely views, with a cozy atmosphere, little isolated but perfect getaway for a quiet meal for 2

Booked a table and arrived 10 mins early. We were given menus to order. We ordered really quickly then the server came back over to say there was a 45 mins delay on food. At this stage we'd got drinks so felt we had no choice. 90 mins later I put my coat on to leave. Had enough tbh. The server arrived just as we got up with the food so we sat back down. The servers were not at fault. They were very polite and kept apologising. I heard 2 other families complain. Weirdly the restaurant had literally no one in it.
The food was really badly presented and I'm sad to say very very poor quality. I ordered Sunday dinner and it looked like it had been thrown on a plate. Soggy veg and very unappealing. My partner orders sea bass. I honestly thought it was a small plate of broccoli. The fish was tiny, colour green on a bed of broccoli and a few green crushed( mushed) new potatoes. Very odd n very unappealing.
I spoke to the manager after sending the food back. I wanted to support them as a local business but would not recommend nor would I return. Very poor food n even worse the managers approach to customer service was lacking somewhat. So many nice pub restaurants to choose from in the area. A real shame to see and experience such poor service.

We were put into back room which was nice but it was cold and had no heating, so not a great start. Menu was limited but food ok and service team were friendly and helpful. However, part way through, we all had empty glasses but had to request another round of drinks - not a big deal, but this is a business and lack of "on-selling" loses income. Basics really.
