Brown Island Landfill used to be reasonably priced. Marion County is gouging its patrons. Shame on you Marion County!

When you call for Dispatch to pick up a dead deer on side of road, they just leave her there and sprinkle her with lime. She is stinking!

As a customer, pretty decent. Like one wrote, you're straight with them, they're straight with you. They won't leave you hanging and will get you an answer, good, bad, or indifferent. The permitting fees seem to be slightly lower than State average. The experience here is much better than other jurisdictions where you are either ignored or treated like cattle or just another source of revenue. I would much rather deal with Marion County Public Works than the City of Salem.
Administratively, there is some work to be done, plenty of room for improvement. I worked here for over 7 months and was treated like crap by the clique-ish "team". They screwed me out of my last paid holiday and also benefits into the next 30 days, which would've came in handy because a co-worker was incredibly ill and insisted on working, so the last day of my employment, I got sick and it cost me several days at my new job and I couldn't go to the doctor as I had no benefits.

I 'm a new home owner trying to improve my house so I was stressed until I met with the county. They were more than helpful walking me through each step helping ease the stress. Final inspection passed today. Thank you to everyone. Not a single person was not helpful!

Having worked with a variety of municipalities and County governments, Marion is one of the best. Simple and straightforward; if you're nice to them, they're very nice to you. Never had a problem with review or inspections, even worked with me on getting the proper paperwork filed after I mistakenly submitted the wrong forms. Always willing to answer questions and we're graceful in correcting mistakes on their end.

Kim, Cindy, Chad and Paul were extremely helpful and patient when dealing with me (a homeowner doing own remodel work). Inspector Jeff was also friendly and easy to work with. The permitting part of the remodel was very stressful for me so I was relieved to have these knowledgeable and kind people to lead me through the process.

Seriously? You print thousands of junk mail fliers entitled "Waste Matters"? Apparently it doesn't matter to YOU! STOP this ridiculously wasteful and self serving marketing strategy immediately. CRAPPY CALL, public works. Crappy indeed! Boooooooo!

Watch out for Inspector Matt Ficek- he may work for the county but he’d rather spend his time buddying up to the private construction team instead of knocking on the doors of county citizens and communicating. Also, he seems to have a real disrespect for women but is real chummy with men....maybe should not be working with the public. Stephanie with the surveyors office and Max with engineering and permits were both respectful and helpful though and I will continue to follow up with them in regards to the matter at hand as well as the behavior of Mr. Ficek.
